AN ASHBOURNE fund-raiser has reached and smashed her target of donating £15,000 to a breast cancer support charity by the end of 2012.

Christine Cotterill, from Ednaston, has been raising funds for the Derby Breast Cancer Support Group for several years and had totted up nearly £14,000 last year before beginning her latest purge.

In October last year, she set a target of reaching the £15,000 mark by selling two Christmas quizzes.

Last week Mrs Cotterill announced that sales of her quizzes were a huge success and had helped her beat her target by more than £300.

She said: “This was the best year so far in my fund-raising efforts and by far the best quiz sales ever.

“I would like to thank everyone who has purchased quiz sheets and who have helped me in any way to raise this this wonderful amount of money.”

Mrs Cotterill personally presented a cheque to staff at the Derby Breast Cancer Support Group last week.
