Turnditch and Windley Show: Animal classes draw in crowds at show

CROWDS are expected to gather as one of the area's most popular village shows is set to take place next month.

The Turnditch and Windley Show takes place on Saturday, September 6, at the showground in Wirksworth Road, Windley, and promises to be a fabulous day of entertainment for all the family.

In conjunction with Turnditch and Windley WI, the show will include a plethora of attractions such as falconry displays, horse and carriage driving, Dog and Duck display, Ashbourne Town Band, a vintage tractor display and Shottle Brewery bar.

There will be a grand prize draw promoted by L Blanchon from Sands Farm and entries are being taken for the horse and pony classes.

The show begins at 8am when the marquee opens for the flower and produce entries.

At 9.30am, the horse and pony competitions commence and at 10am, the marquee will close ready for the flower and produce judging to take place.

The marquee will then re-open at 1.30pm.

By 11am, entries for the pet competition will close and the pet show will get under way at 1pm with the pet parade and championship taking place at 4pm.

The main ring attractions will start at 10.15am, followed by a shire horse parade at noon.

The falconry runs at 12.30pm and 3.45pm and the dog and duck displays take place at 1.45pm and 3.15pm.

The presentation of the flower and produce class awards will round off proceedings at 4.45pm.

Admission to the show will be £5 for adults, £4 for OAPs and children under 16 go free. Parking is also free.
