AN Ashbourne supermarket has announced its chosen charity for this year’s fund-raising.
Sainsbury’s, in Cooper’s Mill, will be supporting Parkinson’s of Ashbourne and District and the charity will receive a year’s worth of fund-raising and awareness support.
To celebrate the announcement, a bag packing day took place at the store on Saturday.
Representatives from the charity were on hand to help customers pack their bags throughout the day.
The retailer’s Local Charity scheme is now in its sixth year and gives customers the chance to vote for their favourite local charity.
The scheme has raised more than £6 million since 2009.
Store manager Don McCallum said: “We’ve had a great response from our customers this year, both through in-store and online votes.
“We’re delighted to have chosen Parkinson’s of Ashbourne and District. We will now be working closely with the group to ensure they really benefit.”
