ASHBOURNE Ladies are through to the final of the Divisional Cup after beating Wirksworth Colts on penalties – following a 0-0 draw in normal time.

Wirksworth were a stubborn outfit and Ashbourne’s final ball could not trouble them, and after two hours of football with no goals, the game went to penalties.

Lucy Swift made two fine saves in the Ashbourne goal and converted one herself as the Ladies won 4-3 on spot-kicks.

Others on target were Lisa Shenton, Laura Sears and Sam Glanville.

Ashbourne will now face Castle Donington in the final at the Reynolds Stadium, Matlock Town, on Sunday, May 11, kick-off 10.30am.

The club will be running a supporters’ bus for the game, with seats available by calling Lisa Shenton on 07525 660670.

ASHBOURNE: Swift, Wood, Coles, Allsop, Clarkson, Fearn, Shenton, Dale, Poyser, Glanville, Sears, Yeomans.
