POWER has now been restored to just under 2,000 homes and business in Ashbourne following a power cut on Friday morning.
About 1,500 properties, including the Ashbourne News Telegraph offices, went without electricity for just under an hour after the power loss at about 9.30am.
But the remaining 500 had their power restored by the afternoon.
A spokewoman for Western Power Distribution said engineers were sent out to fix the problem, caused by an underground network fault.
A helicopter was also sent out to check the power lines following the power cut.
