ASHBOURNE'S swimming pool will be closed from Monday, April 28 until Monday, May 5, as a necessary part of the big revamp of the changing rooms.
It will enable contractors to install new electrical systems at the leisure centre to improve efficiency. All of the dryside facilities will be open as usual.
A £175,000 Sport England grant is helping to create a new open plan "changing village" for the swimming pool to complement the modernisation in 2003 of the centre's reception area and dry side facilities.
At the same time, the District Council, is funding improvements to the energy efficiency of the building by providing new domestic hot and cold water services, new air handling plant, new low temperature heating circuits, improved control systems, new lighting and upgrades to the centre's fire detection and alarm systems.
