POLICE are warning people to be on their guard following a number of incidents.
Two distraction burglaries, two burglaries and a suspicious incident occurred on Thursday, April 10, possibly by the same two males.
A distraction burglary took place on Cliff Cottages, Snelston, around 2pm. One male offender called at the address stating he was from the Forestry Commission. He distracted the resident down the garden whilst another offender searched the property. A leather handbag and cash are known to have been taken at this point. Crime reference number 14744/14.
Around the same time at a farm in Snelston two males were seen and asked about grazing. They left in a grey VW Touran people carrier.
A further burglary happened on Greenway, Ashbourne, around 3.35pm. Two male offenders forced open the front door and took jewellery from within. They left in a vehicle described as a dark grey people carrier. Crime reference number 14715/14.
A distraction burglary occurred on Duke Street, Middleton around 4pm. One male offender distracts the two residents in the front garden whilst another offender has entered the property through an unlocked front door and took jewellery from within.
He is described as being white, medium build, 5’8” to 5’9” tall, aged 30 to 35-years-old, wearing a white flat cap and white plimsoll type shoes. He left in a dark grey estate type vehicle. Crime reference number 14758/14.
Also a burglary occurred on Derby Road, Ashbourne, between 8.30am and 6.30pm. The offender forced open a rear door and searched throughout. Items taken include jewellery. Crime reference number 14735/14.
