Ashbourne: wet weather on the way

A WEDNESDAY washout could be followed by a wet weekend, forecasters warn, as predictions of a “heatwave” arriving by Saturday have been blown away by a severe wet weather warning.

The Met Office has today issued a yellow warning of localised flooding after spotting storms on the way, due to arrive Saturday, quashing hopes for a heatwave that had been due to arrive by the weekend.

Wednesday looks to be dogged by heavy showers for most of the day but Saturday and Sunday had been tipped to brighten up with temperatures set to rise past 25C.

However a spokesman for the Met Office, which issued a wet weather warning to cover all of Saturday, said: "The public should be aware of the potential for localised flooding due to the intensity of these storms, although at this stage the location of the heaviest rainfall is uncertain."
