AN Ashbourne-based NFU secretary has been awarded for the efforts he makes in his role with the union.

NFU group secretary, Paul Cook, has been honoured with a ‘High Achiever’ award during a recent ceremony.

The annual awards are given out in recognition for outstanding achievement and excellence in membership retention and recruitment.

Mr Cook’s performance against targets put him top of the East Midlands region, achieving an increase in subscriptions and recruiting 32 new members.

After collecting the award, Mr Cook said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have won this award.

“My career with the NFU has given me many highlights and the job of a local group secretary is always varied with no two days ever the same.

“It’s a reward in itself to work with and for my farmer members, but winning the high achiever prize is a great feeling.”

NFU county adviser for Derbyshire, Andrew Critchlow, said: “This award is well deserved and I would like to thank Paul for his outstanding services to our members in the Ashbourne branch.”
