VILLAGE primary school pupils have been recognised for their efforts in studying the history of their community.
Children at Hartington Primary School have been presented with a Peak District Award for a project focussing on the history and character of their village.
The children worked with rural artist Lucy Annat to produce artwork for two information panels and leaflets as part of a Sustainable Development Fund grant-funded school and village effort to improve the Hartington village trail.
Pupils were given certificates by Sarak Wilks of the Peak Park Learning Discovery Team.
Head teacher at Hartington, Gillian Francis said: “We are delighted to have this support from the Peak Park and the grant that we received as a village was very generous. The improvements to the trail will benefit the village and local businesses and the children got a lot out of it.”
