POSTPONED due to snow from the 18th January the HPLS cattle sale took place on Friday 1st February.

Travelling conditions were dramatically better than the original date and the vast majority of the catalogued entry were forward together with a few additions. Yet again the High Peak Livestock Society members have raised their quality standards and the cattle were second to none with a wonderful show of stock on offer.

A packed ring of buyers fought hard to secure their purchases and some remarkable figures were achieved.

The highlight of the sale was the entry of Limousin x Steers (8-13mths) from Chatsworth, the first 3 pens each of 11 cattle sold at £1,400, £1,380 and £1,250 and the entire run of 52 averaged £1,251.

The largest entry in the sale was from Mrs M Mosley & Sons of Matlock comprising no fewer than 146 Charollais and Limousin steers and heifers.

The first 3 pens of Charollais mostly steers, 9-10mths selling at £1,040, £1,040 and £1,050.

The first 3 pens of Charollais x heifers were £810, £810 and £810 giving an indication of the wonderful level run of cattle.

Trade was electric from start to finish and there were highlights too many to mention individually however, the following sample results give some indication of the level of demand and the quality of the stock.
