Biker injured at Tissington gates

A MOTORCYCLIST is in a critical but stable condition following an accident at a notorious blackspot near Ashbourne.

The 40-year-old biker, from Netherseal in South Derbyshire, was involved in a collision with a Ford Fusion at around noon on Sunday at Tissington’s gates on the A515.

Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance attended and airlifted the rider who had suffered chest and shoulder injuries, to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire where was taken to the critical care unit.

The 25-year-old female driver and 25-year-old male passenger of the Ford, who were both from Buxton, were not injured in the accident.

Tissington’s owner Sir Richard FitzHerbert has made several appeals for safety improvents at the busy junction.
