Well, after
what seems like a lifetime, I have finally taken possession of my new car!
She is a small and perfectly formed
red Hyundai i10 and I have christened her Ruby.
I thought I would shed a tear or two
when I gave up my old car, a 14 year old Nissan Micra called Ethel, but by the
end of it all I was pretty happy to send her off to be crushed as so many
things had stopped working. At one stage
I was tempted to crush her myself.
Poor old Ethel. Only the left windscreen squirter was capable of squirting, and that one only worked after I poked it with pins.
So how much do I love Ruby? Let me count the ways! She has all the mod cons Ethel lacked: Power steering, cd player, power brakes, anti-lock brakes, air conditioning and four airbags.
Buying her hasn’t been the easiest of jobs. I had to jump through a number of hoops to get the scrapage discount, it took ages and ages for her to finally arrive at the showroom (I thought I’d have her in January and it is now April).
