Denise's Blog

Denise Brown

The Mayor of Ashbourne...

DENISE Brown is like no other Mayor Ashbourne has ever seen. The mother of three, whose time in office this year will be a hectic juggling act with her civic duties and her full-time job, insists she "thrives on pressure." Shrovetide-mad Denise, a town councillor for six years, will be joined at many of her civic appointments by her daughter and consort Lucy Brown and in this blog she will tell readers what life is like as the Mayor of our fascinating market town.

LATE October found me attending the Church Open Day St Oswald's Church. I happened to mention that I hadn't been up the spire. Why don't I keep my mouth shut?

Why do people keep paying us to jump off things?

THIS month saw Lucy and I attend the Scouts Centenary Celebration at Lea Green. We got to play in paint and leave our hand prints all over things, without getting into trouble.

No cake judging? Well, it's just not cricket...

Being Mayor... It's a piece of cake!

WELL my first full council meeting had me trembling. It all looked so easy from the sidelines...

The down-sides to eating so much cake

EARLY September was the time for beat the retreat at Chatsworth.

A kidnapping, some Karaoke, and a not nearly enough cake
