A quick catch up on all our goings-on

A LOT'S happened since my last blog. Might well be something to do with the time it has taken me to actually get around to writing one. Sorry about that.

The house is still great. Needs a good spring clean that none of us have time for, still needs the odd bit of DIY that none of us have the skill or pluck to tackle, and still needs a gardening expert and about 17 hours of heavy labour to bring back under control.

The lawn's nice though. Actually, no it's not. It's looking a bit shabby since I accidentally over-used a box of weedkiller I bought from Wilko's for a couple of quid.

There is good news though. Lizzy quit her job and finishes in just two weeks, so we'll finally be able to enjoy the summer knowing that she doesn't have to go back to York at the end of it.

The hard bit now is finding her another job to do while she finishes her history degree. Does anyone want a surprisingly useful ex-housemistress? Slightly used, but still in showroom condition. She'll do just about anything in exchange for a monthly cheque with the zeroes in the right place.

We bought a new car too. It's a bigger, faster, cleverer car that's done very few miles and with one of those big, dirty old fashioned diesel engines you find in tractors and narrow boats. A big departure from my sporty little coupe but I'm sort of used to it now.

Everything's ticking along nicely at the moment. The uncertainty of Lizzy's job will start to become a bit of a ball and chain unless she starts getting interviews soon but we'll be OK for a few months yet.

No wedding news yet. Said uncertainty is prompting us to be a tad hesitant. We don't want to pay a deposit on a nice venue only to have to bail out due to crippling financial problems because Lizzy's had to take a job on a supermarket checkout.

So now we're more than two years into home ownership. Two years of this weird and wonderful blog beginning and chronicling the journey Lizzy and I took.

But life for us is about to change gear. The house is nothing more than a roof over our head we battle each day to keep and to keep looking nice.

This blog will stay with us as long as I get time to update it. And with a lot due to happen in the next few months, it's honestly worth checking in every now and again.

I won't leave it so long before I update it next time. Or, at least, I'll try my very best...
