SINCE moving to the peak district in April 2009, farm animal vet, James Dixon has started his own business, bought a house and started playing rugby again despite his body's protests to the contrary! This blog will act as a window on the ups and downs of farming life throughout the year through the eyes of a farmers son turned vet as he tends to needs of the livestock (and farmers) of Ashbourne and the surrounding area.
Coping with the big freeze
THE recent cold weather has been a real challenge for our farmers as they struggle to stop water troughs, machinery, milking parlours and even bulk tanks from freezing up.
