ASHBOURNE Mansion owner, James Cartland adopted a cat three weeks ago, and now he's braving the brambles in his garden to raise money for the charity that she came from.

Daisy, a very cute black and white cat, was one of the Ashbourne Animal Welfare's many animals looking for a home when James went along to find a new pet.

Now she is living in the lap of luxury and enjoying a big garden to explore.

And that is why James decided that this year he would sell the blackberries from the very same garden to support the charity.

Passers-by can pick up a punnet of freshly picked fruit for £1 and leave their money in an honesty box outside the Mansion front door, in Church street.

So far more than £80 has been raised, and there are still plenty of blackberries waiting for James to pick them.
