THREE cars have been stolen from a garage forecourt in a village near Ashbourne.

The vehicles were snatched with their keys from Watson and Cooke's Brailsford Garage, overnight, between 5pm on Thursday and 9.20am on Friday. Thieves smashed a side window of the service area at the Main Road business to access an office where the keys were kept in a locked cabinet.

A blue Volkswagen Touareg, a turquoise Jeep Wrangler and a green Saab 9-5 estate were all taken from the garage, a loss which the owners said represented "a good 30%" of their small business.

The haul is thought to be worth around £15,500.

Detectives in Ashbourne are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious on the night of the break-in, or who might have seen any of the three cars, to call them on 101.
