ANYONE wanting to learn more about birdwatching in the area is being invited to a winter wildfowl identification workshop.

The class is being held at Carsington Water from 10am until 2pm on Saturday, January 11.

Based in the Wildlife Discovery room, the workshop is being led by Nigel Slater and will feature an informal talk in the morning, with tips on how to identify different species and tell males from females, followed by a guided walk in the afternoon to look for and identify birds.

Organisers Derbyshire Wildlife Trust said: “This is a great location for birdwatching, it attracts a variety of wintering ducks and geese including some unusual species.

“With purpose-built hides around the reservoir and beautiful countryside surrounding it, it is perfect for a winter’s birdwatching walk.”

The workshop is suitable for adults and accompanied children aged 12 and over.

It costs £8 per person and booking is essential.

More information is available by calling 01773 881188.
