CHILDREN have been getting hands-on this half term at a popular National Trust destination near Ashbourne.

The Sudbury Hall Museum of Childhood has opened its doors for the 2014 season and has been welcoming youngsters to ‘come and have a go’ at a range of craft activities designed to banish the holiday boredom.

Doors opened officially for the new season last week, and the half term programme for children involved craft activities followed by a trip to the garden to try out a wildlife trail and enjoy the woodland play area.

A spokesman said: “Throughout the 2014 season, visitors will have the chance to view a variety of different objects from the stores of the museum of childhood in a changing display celebrating the 40th anniversary of the creation of the museum.
