A COACH-LOAD of students found themselves needing a change of clothes after their minibus took a dive into an Ashbourne brook.

Police said the minibus was driving along Watery Lane in Clifton on Thursday at around 1pm and approaching the Henmore Brook when the driver went through what they thought was a 'large puddle'.

But officers said the driver and 12 students, from Bedford College, were left soaking wet and had to evacuated the coach after going into the brook.

A spokeswoman for Derbyshire police said no-one was injured. Firefighters were also called to the road amid fears the students were trapped in the minibus.

She said the students were on a climbing trip and had been taken to a nearby police station, warmed up and given a change of clothes.
