POLICE are warning people to be vigilant after reports of daylight burglaries in an area of the town.

Burglars attempted to break into a house in Cavendish Drive on Friday, September 14, causing damage to a rear ground floor window.

On Monday last week a property in Willow Meadow Road was also hit — with jewellery and a widescreen television among the items missing after thieves forced their way in through a rear door.

The following day, on Tuesday, September 18, cash was taken from a house in Derwent Gardens when burglars forced open a back door between 11.30am and 9.15pm.

On Monday an attempt was made to gain entry to a house in Peak View Drive, through a window and a door, between 6am and 8.10pm but nothing was taken.

A spokesman for Ashbourne Police said: “We don’t want to cause anyone any unnecessary fear or distress, the Derbyshire Dales is still one of the safest places to live and work, but we do want people to be on their guard and vigilant.” Anyone who saw anything relating to any of the crimes is asked to call Ashbourne Police on 101.
