PRIME CATTLE - Auctioneer: Charles Hollis

A disappointing day as far as numbers were concerned, probably because there would be a lot of people on the land.

Two vendors had promised to bring in a dozen cattle but decided, quite rightly so, that it would be better attending to the land since the opportunity had presented itself.

There were however more OTMs forward with a higher average than any other market with the exception of one that has insignificant numbers and the overall average was 3p more than the market to the north and can you believe it 10p more than the market to the west.

The overall average for the clean competed favourably with other markets and trade was very good but we were lacking in quality.

For the vendors familiar with deadweight grading it proves a point when we can say with conviction that predominant grades in the market would be O+ with a scattering of R and certainly not a U or E in sight.
