A COUPLE, formerly of the Wyaston and Yeavely area, recently celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
Roy Swinscoe, 83, and his wife Florence, 81, who now live in Scropton, married in Osmaston Parish Church on February 24, 1954.
The couple have two children, Douglas Swinscoe and Jane Sessions, and two grandchildren, Emma Whilock, 32 and Nicola Cornell, 31.
As part of their celebrations the whole family, 37 in total plus a baby, got together for a meal at the Boar’s Head in Sudbury,
Jane Sessions said: “It was a lovely party and we had a wonderful time.
“We had all four generations there, including their great-grandson Sebastian who turned one last year.
“I’m sure part of their secret to a happy marriage is that they enjoy doing so many pastimes together.
“They love playing whist and have always enjoyed their weekly dances.
“Gardening is another of their hobbies, and they make a great team together.
“They also used their celebrations as a chance to raise funds for St Paul’s church in Scropton.”
