MEMBERS of Derby Mountain Rescue team gave spectators an insight into the valuable role they play, when called to assist with two incidents on a fundraising and PR day at Dovedale.
The first involved a 20-year-old man, who took a tumble descending the steep scree slope on Thorpe Cloud with some friends.
He was treated on scene by the team and lowered down the tricky slope by rope and stretcher to the team's Land Rover, and taken to an EMAS ambulance.
While handing the casualty over, the team were alerted to a young girl who had also fallen down the bottom of a slope, injuring her shoulder.
She was looked at by the team and an EMAS paramedic before being taken back to her family's car with her mother, to be taken to hospital for a check up.
