FAMILIES are being encouraged to get young children interested in wildlife over the school holidays.

Derbyshire Wildlife Trust has launched My Wild Summer handbook – a free, downloadable guide to wildlife, habitats and activities to look out for and try this summer.

The guide is packed with ideas and information, complemented by suggestions of places to go and things to do.

A Trust spokesman said: "Spending time exploring nature at a young age can bring a lifetime of pleasure.
