PUPILS at a school near Ashbourne have been treated to an entirely new play area, thanks to the results of an ambitious project by fund-raisers.

Children at Norbury Primary School have spent the week exploring and testing out the new equipment in their playground after £10,000 was raised by members of the Friends of Norbury School Association (FONSA).

The association worked hard to ammass the funds, which have seen the project to revamp the school’s spacious outdoor playground come to fruition in time for the spring.

The school’s council, whose members range in age between five and 11, were involved in the planning process to determine what sort of equipment would be installed. Teachers and parents also chose an all-weather surface and items which would challenge the older children.

The school council opted for a ‘wooden circuit’ which is suitable for all age groups.
