AN ASHBOURNE garden centre is celebrating after being recognised as a ‘centre of excellence’.

General Manager Ally Moseley said: “We opened the garden centre in 1998 and we have been members of the Garden Centre Association, (GCA) since 2006.

“A garden centre needs to be judged and achieve a certain score before they can become a member.

“We have steadily worked our way up the rankings and have for the last couple of years been in the top 10 garden centres in the country- a ‘Garden Centre of Excellence’.

“We also won the best ‘Indoor Lifestyle’ award - basically the best gift and interior departments in the whole country, which obviously we are very pleased about!

“We try very hard to keep improving our standards and these awards show how far we have come. I am lucky to have a very committed and incredibly hard working team.”

Ian Boardman, GCA inspector said: “Whenever you visit Fairways in Clifton, standards are always high.

Great service, great food and a friendly welcome.”
