A cafe in Ashbourne is celebrating a successful gluten-free tester menu tasting evening held recently.

More than 40 people turned up at the Flower Cafe in Market Place to give their feedback on a range of new gluten-free dishes, including pizza, pasta bakes, quiches and lasagne.

There was plenty of offer for those with a sweet tooth too - brownies, Victoria sponges and scones were just a few of the puddings and deserts on offer.

Adele Owen, the cafe owner, said: “It was great that so many people turned up to support us.

“The feedback and comments we got were lovely and it has convinced us that there is a definite need for this type of menu in town.

“Our next step will be launching a range of frozen take away meals, we decided on the name ‘Cheat the Wheat’ and hopefully we will have these items on sale from the end of March.

“I’d like to thank everyone for coming along on the night, and we will take all the feedback received and build on our already quite extensive gluten-free range in the cafe.

“Come along and see what we offer.”
