POLICE officers are urging Ashbourne households to take extra steps to protect their valuables by singing up to the national property register, Immobilise.

Immobilise is a free service that allows anyone to register their property such as phones, bikes and laptops to help the police to quickly find the owners of recovered lost and stolen items.

Stolen property often turns up in different towns and even counties, so having a national register will increase the likelihood of owners being reunited with their belongings.

It only takes a few minutes to register.

More information is available online at www.immobilise.com or by calling 101 and asking for the Ashbourne Safer Neighbourhood Team.
