Wild Warrior action hots up

Written byNATALIE WAKEFIELD

FLAMING bales, obstacles and mud were the order of the day at Wild Park, Brailsford at the weekend.

The annual X-Runner Wild Warrior event attracted more than 2,000 people to the park on Saturday, to complete a 5k or 10k obstacle course.

X-Runner events are run by Steve Walker of Mickleover, who organises two extreme races at Wild Park, run by the Else family, each year.

In the past the challenge has been tackled by reality tv’s Jordan and Ashbourne fitness intstructor Barry Thraves of BPhysical.

Jody Else said: “We work in partnership with Steve and spend all our time while we’re out paint-balling or quad biking, thinking about how difficult do we want to make it for people. It’s rained pretty much non-stop since last March so it has definitely been a muddy run this time what with sleet, rain and hail. OUr neighbours have been very understanding twice a year, so we appreciate that.

“It’s great that Barry and the BPhysical people come along, it’s good to see the local people here. We take a back seat as Steve has marshals making sure it runs like clockwork.”
