HEAVY rain is expected to fall on parts of Derbyshire - including Ashbourne - this weekend, according to forecasters.
The Met Office has issued a yellow "be aware" warning for showers on Saturday, with the rain expected to last for 24 hours from just after midnight.
The warning covers Derbyshire and much of the East Midlands.
A spokesman for the Met Office said: "Following a build up of very warm and humid air at the end of this week, there is the potential for the development of intense thunderstorms over the UK from Friday night.
"In this situation, it can lead to torrential downpours, along with frequent lightning activity, large hail and locally-strong gusts."
