ASHBOURNE’S National Farmers’ Union secretary Paul Cook has been hhonoured with a ‘High Achiever’ award at a recent ceremony.

The annual awards are given in recognition for outstanding achievement and excellence in membership retention and recruitment and judges said his performance against targets put him top of the East Midlands region, achieving an increase in subscriptions and recruiting 32 new members.

He said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have won this award. My career with the NFU has given me many highlights and the job of a local group secretary is always varied with no two days ever the same. It’s a reward in itself to work with and for my farmer members, but winning the high achiever prize is a great feeling.”

NFU county adviser Andrew Critchlow said: “This award is well deserved and I would like to thank Paul for his outstanding service. He’ll always go that extra mile and his increase in branch membership during 2013 speaks for itself.”
