Why Hurricane Christobal could save Ashbourne's summer

SUMMER could be set to make a comeback in Ashbourne – thanks to a tropical hurricane sweeping across the Bahamas.

The country is set to warm up next week, forecasters predict, and this is thanks to warm air being wrenched up from the continent by Hurricane Cristobal – which is due to cross the Atlantic Ocean this week.

Unlike Hurricane Bertha, which brought what we all thought was an untimely end to our summer with wet and windy conditions to round off August, Cristobal is currently due to more through the south west coast before heading north, missing Britain entirely.

And while we look set to miss the storm, Cristobal could drag up high pressure, resulting in dry and warm temperatures towards the end of next week which could see the mercury rise close to 20C.
