ASHBOURNE people are being invited to get involved with Sport Relief and help raise funds for the campaign at the same time.
Derbyshire Dales District Council’s leisure teams are organising charity events in Ashbourne to encourage people to get involved.
Sport Relief will benefit and participants get the chance to sign up to run, walk or jog a mile in town on Sunday, March 23.
The District Council’s sports development team is hosting the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile from Ashbourne Recreation Ground along a route that takes in views of the Memorial Gardens, lakes and beautiful open countryside.
Participants, who can sign up to one, three or six mile events being held in the morning of March 23, can kick-back and enjoy a variety of activities on offer after completing their challenge.
If swimming is your sport then on the same weekend the leisure centres in Matlock and Bakewell are hosting Swimathon events as part of the UK’s biggest fundraising swim.
Fund-raisers can do the Swimathon on their own or in a team of between two to five people.
The number of lengths to be completed by each team member can be decided later.
Sport Relief is the weekend, every two years, when the British public can get active, have fun and raise cash to help people living in tough conditions both in the UK and around the world.
Fundraisers get sponsored for Sport Relief, and go the extra mile by organising sports tournaments, quizzes and challenges to raise even more cash.
It all leads up to the Sport Relief weekend and a full night of fun TV on the BBC.
Signing up for any of the events is easy via the Sport Relief website at www.sportrelief
