KNIVETON Primary School's young golfers are making their mark at county level.

The 10-strong team – five boys and five girls – followed up their success in a competition for the Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School cluster with another victory at Anthony Gell School, where they faced golfers from Wirksworth, Elton and the surrounding area.

Led by captain, Charles Tallis, they took part in a series of activities that tested their putting and chipping skills.

After a tense wait, Kniveton Primary were announced the winners.

The team were due to play in the county final in Chesterfield yesterday.

Thanks must go to Rural Derbyshire School Sports partnership who organised the competition.
