KNIVETON Primary School pupils took top honours in the golf tournament at the Derbyshire School Games.

Five boys and five girls from years five and six competed at the event which was held at Spinkhill, near Chesterfield

Each team had to participate in 10 different golfing activities which tested their putting and chipping skills.

Kniveton golfers were superb and, as they moved around the various events, an air of excitement began to build as there were whispers that they had scored the highest in each activity.

They won and headteacher Mrs Board said: "This has to be one of the proudest moments of my 19 years as headteacher at Kniveton Primary.

"Every child played their very best and they deserved to win."
