To quote Cedar House investments’ comment in your recent paper, “it’s over to us to have our say” – I do hope people will do just that.
My understanding is that work to construct the said path was about to get under way.
Originally there was promise of a football pitch, and tennis courts as well.
When we visit other villages and towns around our beautiful countryside, river walks provide an enjoyable pastime and enhance the locality.
I understood this path, as well as providing an attractive setting for tourists to our town, would be for multi-use for us locals, ie wheelchairs, bikers, joggers, walkers and a safe way for children to walk into town to school away from the busy, noisy main road.
Flooding surely will not be a problem, as awareness of it surely would mean an embankment could be incorporated into the plan .
I think there is adequate space for the football pitch and path, and this is either a tactic to delay any decision.
Residents living on the Radleigh estate (Cedar House Investments) were promised these developments when they purchased their homes five years ago, before any further developments were supposed to be started.
As one of those residents I suggest we need a public meeting with Cedar House, the town and district councils and all interested parties to discuss and view the original and revised plans, and debate the best outcome for our town and its residents.
