PUPILS from a prep school near Ashbourne have got into the Christmas spirit and raised £350 for their first responder group.

Children at Abbotsholme Prep School spend their last week of term raising money for the Dove Valley First Responders.

The kids ammassed the total by wearing Christmas jumpers and making a donation by paying Mrs Shermer, their head teacher to wear a Pingu outfit.

Parents, and visitors who attended the Prep School Carol service donated to collection which has been handed to the volunteer group of trained life-savers.

The school handed over a cheque to Anthony Coates, a member of the team, at the end of the week of fund-raising activities.

He told the pupils he was delighted to accept the donation.
