THE PMX 685i Sports from leading headphone manufacturer Sennheiser, is a lightweight neckband headset complete with iPhone/iPod control and storage pouch, sporting both Sennheiser and Adidas logos.
The neckband design on these particular headphones is actually perfect for cyclists like myself, as it fits unobtrusively under a regular cycle helmet, and also allows greater situational awareness as they block out less outside noise than many Sennheiser sets.
In use, they proved typically Sennheiser — well made with a true feeling of quality, they also provide a great deep sound with lots of bass, while still maintaining excellent vocal clarity.
During workouts, runs and cycle rides the PMX 685i’s were always comfortable and rarely moved out of place, with the inline controls, which work in exactly the same way as Apple’s own, proving very useful once my iPhone was stored safely in my bag.
Another great feature of the Sennheiser PMX 685i is the unique moisture protection system, which means the headset can be rinsed under the tap to remove dirt and sweat.
Using the headphones on the road and trail, you are immediately aware of how much outside noise they still allow through, this is a great safety feature that meant I was always aware of traffic coming up behind me — something full noise cancelling types strive to block out.
