Priced £29.99

ON the face of it, this 8.4GB disc of sounds may not be too appealing.

But if you are faced with editing a video and need specific sounds or even complete soundtracks, then this disc is pure magic.

Without breaking copyright restrictions and landing yourself in legal hot water, you cannot plunder your way through video editing by sticking any random track of music to your footage.

To keep within the law you need copyright-free material and that’s where this software becomes invaluable.

The disc features 3,000 sounds and songs including every national anthem, hundreds of special effects, atmospheric noises (rain forest etc) as well as full orchestral works.

Whether it’s a sample of house music, soul or reggae you need, this disc has it all.

If you are faced with a fairly lengthy video to edit and need a ready-made soundtrack, then this is certainly the package.

Each snippet of music within the ‘easy soundtrack’ chapter is only 20 or 30 seconds in duration but they have been created in the same music key and tempo so that you can knit endless snippets together to give yourself a custom-made orchestral soundtrack interlaced with a few special effects.

Maybe your demands are much simpler. Perhaps you just need the sound of a firework or a car horn or some church bells?

All of these crystal clear recordings are included on this one disc.

Most of the tracks on the disc are in a format unrecognisable by most standard audio software (OGG) — therefore, included as a free bonus is Mufin Player audio software.

If you are pulling the tracks directly into a software package such as Magix Movie Edit Pro, then there is no need for any additional software or the Mufin Player.

I cannot emphasise enough the excellent range, quality and variation of the tracks on this disc — it brings the most mundane movie footage to life.

Search on YouTube for the Ashbourne News Telegraph for the edited version of our Ashbourne Royal Shrovetide footage (15 minute duration). Every music track used on this footage was from this Magix collection.

The video embedded with this article was made using tracks from this Magix collection.
