Man airlifted after collapse

A 64-YEAR-OLD man has been airlifted to hospital after collapsing and going into cardiac arrest while playing badminton in Sudbury.

The Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) said it was called to the incident at 12.52pm on Monday.

Crews landed at the incident within 15 minutes of receiving the call.

CPR and two shocks with the defibrillator were given to the patient, who is from Sudbury, by members of the public before the ambulance crew arrived at the scene.

The crew from DLRAA then proceeded to anaesthetise the patient before transferring him to the Royal Derby Hospital for further treatment. The patient’s current condition is unknown.
