A Qatar Airways plane, which was escorted by military jets into Manchester Airport following concerns about a possible device on board, has landed, after circling over Ashbourne.

Greater Manchester Police has confirmed a passenger was taken off the plane by officers. It says it is working "as swiftly and safely as possible" to get others off.

The flight path of QR23 was tracked live on the website www.planefinder.net/flight/QR23 by a concerned Ashbourne resident, who captured the screenshot showing its path over town.

It is understood the plane involved is an Airbus A330, which was escorted by a Typhoon from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire.
