THE owners of an Ashbourne restaurant have entered a marathon for charity.

Peter and Laura Dale, who own the Dining Room have entered the Connemarathon in County Galway on Sunday, April 6, to raise money for Macmillan.

Mr Dale said: “Laura’s best friend Marc’s father, Robert, died from cancer and this is what made her want to run a marathon.

“We built her training up to finish the Ashbourne half last year, complete with bad shoulder and neck injuries.

“Lots of training later Kiki from Air hairdressing decided she would like to join us so she entered.

“Then in January Laura became really unwell and was admitted to hospital where she later had her appendix removed, followed by a kidney infection and then an allergic reaction to the anaesthetic where she stopped breathing which made matters even worse.

“Despite all that, Laura is still going to have a go, although now she will run a half marathon with Kiki’s partner Alastair.

“Kiki and I will still run the full marathon.”
