MAYFIELD are through to the third round of the Ashbourne Summer League Cup – but needed extra time and penalties to get there.

They were locked 2-2 against Coach Rangers but won the tie 5-4 on penalties to pull off a shock win

Wheel Inn also needed extra-time to progress in another surprise result.

Their tie against Brassington also ended 2-2 but Wheel Inn eventually went through 3-2.

They were joined by Bradley, who beat Mappleton 3-0, and Doveridge, whose opponents Biggin failed to field a team.

In the league, Biggin were in good form, defeating FC Hulland 4-0, while Coach Rangers beat 2-1.

There was a big win for Red Lion, who trounced Wheel Inn 7-0, while FC Hulland were almost as dominant in their rearranged fixture at Osmaston, which they won 5-0.

Brassington celebrated a big win in the first round of the Wayne Tarbard Memorial Trophy.

They beat FC Hulland 5-3 on Monday night, while Doveridge also did well as they beat Wheel Inn 4-0.

Osmaston were 2-0 winners in their game against Biggin and Coach Rangers just edged past Rose & Crown 4-3.

Meanwhile, Bradley beat rivals Mayfield on penalties after their game finished in a 2-2 draw.
