TWO village primary schools have staged a mini football tournament.
A total of 52 children, aged between four and 11, from FitzHerbert [Fenny Bentley] and Parwich primary schools, competed in mini round-robin matches.
The tournament was among activities held in partnership with Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Ashbourne.
The sports scheme has already seen children playing hockey and football, with rounders and tennis planned for the rest of the school year.
Each primary school is taking it in turns to host sports and they have welcomed the support of young sports leaders from QEGS to help out with warm-up activities and refereeing of matches.
A spokeswoman for both primary schools said: "We are delighted with how the events are going so far.
"We're also delighted with the support we've received from staff at each school, parents, QEGS staff and young leaders."
