A VILLAGE pub near Ashbourne is being treated to a £150,000 refurbishment.

The Nag’s Head in Hulland Ward will be closed for four weeks while its leaseholders, Mark Dance and Margaret Chamberlain and owners Punch Taverns give it a full makeover.

Ms Chamberlain, who previously ran the nearby Brackendale Restaurant for seven years before taking on the pub in November, said: “There will be updated décor and new furniture and fittings that reflect an olde worlde theme.

“We also look to develop the kitchen so we can have a stronger focus on food.

“The plans look fantastic and I look forward to seeing the end result.”

Punch Taverns’ Partnership Development Manager, Paul Alldis, is also looking forward to the new look pub.

He said: “It’s great that Punch can invest in their pubs and we essentially want to reposition the Nags Head as one of the leading pubs that can provide great drinks and destination dining for residents in Ashbourne and the surrounding areas.”
