A BRAND new half marathon is due to take place in Ashbourne next month, with up to 250 runners taking part.
The first ever Tissington Trail Half Marathon, which takes place on Sunday, October 7, will be raising money for the Children’s Trust and will take in 13 miles, starting in Ashbourne.
The sold-out race, which starts at 10am, has been organised by Nice Work and is devised as a “point to point” beginning at Parsley Hay with runners running down the trail towards Ashbourne’s Mappleton Lane Car Park.
A spokesman for Nice Work said: “This is a rare opportunity for the participants to run a half marathon in Derbyshire without hills.
“The traffic-free trail is ideal for a cracking half marathon. Running one way is slightly downhill the other is slightly uphill. And the decision has been taken to run the race down rather than up.”
