14,000 calls to new police number 101

A NEW police number has received 14,000 calls in its first month.

Non-emergency telephone number 101, has helped 14,000 callers contact police without clogging up the emergency 999 lines.

And, police hope the easyto dial 101 will lead to a fall in inappropriate calls to the emergency number.
