2,000 people apply for jobs at Alton Towers theme park

BOSSES at a theme park near Ashbourne say they received more than 2,000 job applications for the new season even before they advertised the post.

Alton Towers is looking for more than 1,200 new employees before it reopens fully from Saturday, March 16 and this year it is looking for one of its biggest ever intakes of staff to help with an expected surge in visitors as it gears up for the launch of a new ride.

Aside from the new ride, which is still ‘top secret’ three new burger kitchen restaurants will be opening this year.

Kerry Alcock, resort recruitment manager, said: “As always, we will be looking for outgoing people with great communication skills, as we look for personality over qualifications every time.

“It’s crucial we find people who will fit the culture of our business as our parent company is growing at a rapid rate so there are tremendous opportunities for promotion worldwide.

“We’d already had over 2,000 applications before the main advertising campaign had even started.

“The calibre of candidates is also much higher so people are recognising the excellent opportunities for development that we offer. “
